Macmillan
Nurses
Lillian
Chapman, our Macmillan Nurse, gives support and comfort to
terminally ill patients and their carers. Lillian is in regular
contact with St Luke’s Hospice and can advise doctors
and patients alike on advances in the care of the terminally
ill.
Dietitian
Our
Community Dietitian is responsible for running a Dietetic Clinic at
Estover Health Centre by referral from your doctor. Dietitians interpret
the science of nutrition in a practical way providing information and
advice on ways of changing eating habits to treat medical problems to
prevent disease and promote nutritional health.
Our
Dietitian sees patients of all ages from antenatal through to children,
adults, and the elderly. Key areas of work include diabetes, coronary
heart
disease, being underweight, digestive problems, food allergy/intolerance,
eating disorders, consistency alteration, nutritional assessment, and
obesity.
Physiotherapy
If
you need to see a physiotherapist, we will refer you on to Tavistock Hospital.
One of the team will be in contact with you to arrange an appointment.
Chiropody
All
of our Chiropody/Podiatry referrals are sent to Seventrees Clinic in Plymouth.
They do hold sessions in Tavistock Clinic which patients can attend if
they are unable to make it to Plymouth.
Referrals
to a Consultant via Choose and Book
If
during your consultation with the GP it is decided that you need to be
referred to see a Consultant, this would generally be done using the Choose
and Book System. This is a very valuable service which allows people much
more choice and flexibility. Details are available in the Surgery.
